Fall Craft Cocktail Series: Saison Gin & Tonic [Recipe]

Fall Craft Cocktails Series: Saison Gin & Tonic

At long last! The temperatures have begun to drop, the sun sets a little earlier, and Halloween has come and gone. While the rest of the country has experienced the fall season for several weeks, many Arizonans – especially those of us in the greater Phoenix area – are just getting ready for sweater weather.

With a change in weather also comes a change in what our palates crave and with #pumpkineverything hitting the shelves earlier and early, many of us look to celebrate #allthingsautumn a little differently. Enter Four Peaks Saison Gin & Tonic.

This elegant cocktail packs a powerful punch that whisks you away to places that spiced latte can’t really reach. White pepper compliments the zest brought to the table by Meyer Lemon with a smooth hint of juniper from the gin. (Pro tip: We use Fords Gin for this recipe.)

This recipe has a couple of parts – two of which are optional but add to the overall taste profile and imbibing experience.

The recipe itself is easy:

fourpeakssaisongin_tonic2
Saison Gin & Tonic
1.5 oz. Lemon Meyer & White Peppercorn-infused Gin*
0.5 oz. Grand Marnier
Tonic
Lemon garnish

To make this dream work, measure and pour gin and Grand Marnier over ice in a rocks glass. Top with your choice of tonic and garnish with a lemon.

To make the Lemon Meyer & White Peppercorn-infused Gin, add 1 TBL dried lemon peel and 1/4 tsp white peppercorn to one bottle of Fords Gin. Infuse overnight and strain.

For best results, after infusion, add infused gin and Grand Marnier to barrel and age for a week.

Sound like too many steps? LOL! It’s ok. We have you covered! Stop by the original Four Peaks in Tempe or Four Peaks Grill & Tap in Scottsdale, and ask one of our talented bartenders to whip you up a Saison Gin and Tonic. Single Tank Series, Harvey’s HawkIBA, To Benefit AZK9 Rescue

Four Peaks Brewing Co. is tapping a new Single Tank Series, and this one has heart!

Drew and Harvey
Love at first sight!

Harvey’s HawkIBA is coming your way Friday, October 28!  Harvey’s HawkIBA has a malty backbone with huge hop flavor and aroma with a Citra and Simcoe hop base to add a citrus aroma. It will be available at the original Four Peaks in Tempe, Four Peaks Grill & Tap in Scottsdale, and Four Peaks Tasting Room on Wilson. It will also be featured at this year’s Four Peaks Fall Festival.

A Beer with a purpose

This India Brown Ale was brewed with a particular purpose. This beer is named after one of our Brewers, Drew’s dog, Harvey. Harvey is a special little guy.  Harvey was rescued just two years ago at our Local Fest at Wilson Street.

Harvey (then called Hawkeye) is missing an eye, but that never slowed him down. Jessie Kinneer, a member of our HR team, was volunteering with AZK9 Rescue and brought Hawkeye to the Four Peaks Local Fest as a part of the organization’s Amazing Rescue Race.

Harvey's HawkIBA

I was volunteering with the rescue taking part in their event called the Amazing Rescue Race, ” Jessie tells me as she recalls Harvey’s meeting Drew and Drea, Drew’s wife. “This event is where a volunteer is partnered with one adoptable dog and they are given new tasks each week to complete with their dog in order to get them out of the rescue house and gain exposure in order to hopefully find their forever home.” Jessie continues, “Hawkeye was my partner that year (2015) and found Drew during one of our outings as part of this challenge. Hawkeye is a lab/shar-pei mix dog that the rescue saved from [a] county [shelter] because he had an enlarged eye and was going to be euthanized because [the] county doesn’t have the funds to help medically needy animals.”

fullsizerender-2Drew’s parents fell in love with Harvey at first sight that sunny afternoon at the Four Peaks Fall Festival, and Drew and his wife got the paperwork rolling immediately.

A portion of the proceeds from this beer will go back to AZK9 Rescue. Four Peaks hopes this tribute beer reminds us how critical rescues are to these animals and the people who give them fur-ever homes.

img_0707 is a 501c33 non-profit organization founded in 2010 by a group of individuals who wanted to make a difference in the lives of companion animals in Maricopa County. The members of AZK9 are willing to give their time, passion and knowledge to offer proactive solutions to address the pet overpopulation. Plan on coming to Four Peaks Fall Fest? You may run into a few rescue dogs on-site that day too! See you at Four Peaks!

Four Peaks Brews a Wet Hopped IPA, Wet Knot, for First Time in 20 Year History [Video]

On Friday, September 30, Four Peaks Brewing Co. tapped their FIRST EVER wet hopped beer, Wet Knot! With more than 200 years of brewing experience combined, are so proud to offer this brew up to friends and family who visit the Four Peaks pubs in Tempe and Scottsdale.

The 400 pounds of fresh hops used in this beer were picked from the vine then shipped off at 8 am on a Friday and into the beer the very next day! Wet hops need to be used within 24 hours of picking for the ideal flavor and quality.

This version uses the Hop Knot malt base, and its floral nose is the essence of pure citrus from the Cascade hops added at different stages of the brewing process. Wet Knot is a truly unique beer, and the gang is looking forward to it being a favorite of yours!

Due to its limited yield, Wet Knot will only be available at the original Four Peaks in Tempe, Four Peaks Grill and Tap in Scottsdale, and Four Peaks Tasting Room on Wilson Street. This beer is a one-time brew, so I recommend stopping by one of the pubs to try it before it’s gone!

Have you tried Wet Knot? Tell us about it! Check it in when you check it out on Untappd!

Four Peaks Brewing Co. Expands Footprint at Historic 8th Street Tempe Location

This August, Four Peaks Brewing Company expands its Tempe location footprint with an expansion that houses a new line of merchandise, and a bocce ball court in the historic space. Four Peaks Summertime Craft Cocktail Series

Summertime in the desert isn’t for everyone. It takes a certain life form to inhabit this tough terrain but for those of us just stubborn enough to endure this “dry heat”, we are constantly vigilant of refreshing concoctions that will help soothe our parched throats.

Enter Four Peaks Desertini. This cocktail is a blissful blend of Four Roses bourbon, strawberry puree, basil, Four Peaks White Ale, and has a hint of bubbly. Elegant enough for a martini glass yet delectable enough to enjoy with dessert, as a dessert or even as an aperitif!

Cutting mangoes
A real mango

In this edition, we will discuss (read: give away the recipe to) one of the newest editions to the Summer Craft Cocktail lineup – Four Peaks Mangorita.

Summer Craft Cocktail – Four Peaks 120° Shandy

Alright, alright. We know – it’s Hot. Hot with a capital ‘H’. We have two seasons around here; they include “Sorta Warm” and “Satan’s Inferno”. It’s a daily struggle for us and some struggle a little more than others. (Seriously, our hearts go out to those with no A/C!)

What’s going to cool you down a bit and help you to experience a little summer fun at the next pool party? Since not many of us can just hop into a walk-in cooler every hour on the hour, we have a couple of craft cocktails that we think will do the trick that we are going to talk about over the next couple weeks!

Introducing the Four Peaks 120° Shandy! This simple cocktail is refreshing, delicious, and is an excellent way to beat the heat – Arizona style!

This super simple recipe is a fantastic summer party hit, and it’s easy to make with some ingredients you may already have at home. If not, it’s nothing that your neighborhood grocer won’t have for ya!

Four Peaks 120° Shandy will cool those jets!
Four Peaks 120° Shandy will cool those jets!

Four Peaks 120° Shandy

2 oz AZ Distilling Vodka infused with blackberry and lemon*
1 oz sour
Top with Four Peaks Sunbru Kolsch-style Ale
1 lemon wheel for garnish

How this Works

A little prep work will need to go into this ahead of time. To infuse the AZ Distilling Vodka, take equal parts vodka and simple syrup, muddle 4-6 blackberries to one lemon, infuse for a couple days then strain through cheesecloth.

Once your blackberry limoncello concoction is ready, mix it with sour mix and shake. Pour into a pint glass filled with ice, and add Four Peaks Sunbru to fill. Garnish with a lemon wheel and enjoy!

Easy peasy! Be the hit of the pool party with this fun, easy craft cocktail!

Not interested in all the work? Stop by the original Four Peaks in Tempe or Four Peaks Grill & Tap in Scottsdale and order one on your next visit!
